If you’ve ever remodeled a shower, you may know the costly mess that can lurk beneath that leaky, smelly old shower floor. Whether you’re building a new home or remodeling an existing bathroom, you want to make sure you have a completely leak free shower floor to prevent an unsanitary environment and costly water damage. Traditional tile shower designs are susceptible to leaks and heavily dependent on the skill level of the installer. We manufacture a variety of leak-free shower pans to resolve this problem.

FAQs

  • A shower pan is the shower floor that you step on. This can be made from several different materials. A shower base refers to the concrete or subfloor beneath the shower pan.

  • At Tyvarian, we offer 3” and 4.5” curbs. A deeper pan means less likelihood of spills or leaks, but at the end of the day you should choose the depth that feels good to you.

  • You can, but shower pan liners are very difficult to install. If a slight tear happens, the integrity of the pan is ruined and water can seep through the hole and cause water damage underneath the shower. If you set it incorrectly, it can be incredibly difficult to redo it yourself. We recommend hiring a professional for this part of the job, even if you’ll do many things yourself.

  • Not necessarily. A shower pan does need a solid base to rest on, however, Tyvarian shower pans can be installed on concrete or directly on the subfloor, avoiding the need for a separately purchased base. We prefer a level surface, but our installers can get the shower pan level even if your concrete is a little angled.
